I have finished my 18w build and she sounds great. With the VVR, I can use it as a practice amp or I can irritate the neighbors to no end, not to talk about the “boss” ?. As any it goes with any “normal” person, I have started thinking about the next one.
Now, I have two options (and no, solid state is not an option):
1. Build a dual channel
2. Or build a single channel, clean only.
The idea with option 2 is to build a clean head and then use the current 18 for its drive capability. Then link both to the same CAB. I will then use a solid state switch to switch between the two heads (see pic below). Any thoughts on this?
Then I have a question: If I understand it correctly, the characteristic of the valves allows the drive capability of the amplifier. The pre-amp has a lot to do with this.
1. Do I understand it correctly?
2. What is the difference in the pre-amp to ensure a clean output?
Thanks.
