Hi Guys
Had a bizarre issue with my BD-2 this week. In the process of tidying up my pedalboard, I plugged it in to a different outlet on my PP2+. And when I connected power to the board, the pedal wouldn't switch to OD. The buffer would work, and depressing the foot switch would momentarily turn on the effect, but no permanent bypass/effect switching. So I remove it form the board, clean out the switch, connect a boss PSU and it works?!?! Back on the board, same problem.
I whip out my multimeter, and find that the boss PSU is putting out 9.1v, while the PP2+ is putting out 9.3v (outlets 5-8). I switch to another outlet on the PP2+ which measures 9.1 (output 1 or 2), and the pedal is working as normal. The outlet has no problematic interactions with any of the other 9v pedals on my board (Polytune, Crybaby, Acoustic pre, M5, Boss SD-1)
This is not the first time I've noticed certain pedals don't like greater than 9.1 volts. I even had my CIOKS big john modded to provide this voltage. THese pedals exhib it the below behaviour even when on a single isolated output, but the issue disappears when using a battery or a lower voltage. Here's my list of "fussy" pedals:
1. Boss BD-2 (Switching problems.)
2. Any of the Boss DD series (Hum)
3. Peterson Strobostomp 1 (Hum)
Any you can add?
Regards,
T

Hi Nicholas
I'll double check, but that outlet should be putting out around 100ma, and the BD-2 is spec'ed at about 13 ma consumption. No problems when plugging in a current hungry polytune in to the same outlet. Weird
