Hey guys!

So Im having a hard time finding turretboards and turrets locally... From what I understand it is possible to use a perspex board for the turretboard, but I cant find turrets. I read in an old post that RS electronics stocks turrets, however I cant seem to find them on the website...

So if anyone can help me pinpoint the turrets on RS' price list or tell me where else I can find them I would appreciate it.

I am going to build a AX84 Hi Octane and I decided to source all of the parts myself instead of ordering a kit. I am still compiling my Bill of materials and budget, but the next step is to have a chassis made by a local laser cutting business. So I'm going to do the solidworks flat pattern drawing this weekend. I will make the drawing available for anyone who wants to modify it for their own custom builds.

So watch this space. There should be a build thread coming in the next few weeks.
I know you said you want local...I don't know about local... but I know about ebay...

If you are willing to consider ebay:

Not sure how many posts you need... but yeah... there are some on Auction for R10... I would give it a go...I've had pretty decent experiences with ebay regarding buying stuff...
Just make sure if you are getting one with or without the turrets...
Maybe ask around, there are many forum members who order these things from time to time, maybe piggyback on someone's order?

Yeah... If I cant find them locally I will use Ebay or one of a few US shops who ships to ZA. I would be willing to share the box with some other people. I'll need a few more days to plan exactly what I will need though

        Thanx!
I went to a place in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. I am not too sure what they do. I seem to recall that they mentioned that they do wiring/components for substations. They had a brown in 3mm(resin on cardboard) & green in 2mm(resin on glass fibre) - Both were great quality. I had to cut & drill both of them. I bought a few pieces
I will find out what kind of a business this is & update the post. This is of course useless if you only want precut, pre drilled.
I bought turrets from RS - they almost tripled in price shortly after that. I also way prefer the other turrets I get from the US - they have a bigger squarer lip & make soldering easier.
I like EZ's idea - we should do more of that. I'm sure some of us have cheap sources for some things. Nudge nudge wink wink. Let me know.
Just thinking now, would rivets work? ?
Or would they break the board?
A turret is a type if rivet. Its also tinned & will accept solder well. Rivets are mostly aluminium & solder will not bond with that - I'm not aware of a flux that will do that. The cheaper alternative is eyelets. I think most people prefer turrets.
Ok well I'm willing to look into importing... Could be nice to get my hands on some exotic caps and tubes.

So anyone have experience with any website (except ebay, which might prove difficult when ordering a number of different parts)
It could be a good idea to order a box with a bunch of tubes and caps and some other small stuff. But this will only happen when the planning phase is done etc... That could take about a month or so... So if anyone is keen, let me know!

Eyelets are suprisingly nice to work with. However, making mods once you're donecan be tricky, however I did manage to do so.

Not completey messy methinks, my tweed amp.
