Don't thank me. I know we were all soon going to have the "Blue MIM Strats with a Warmoth neck and gold hardware of GFSA" thread. Post Strats. Any strats. Rule: You must own it. You must submit a pic of your actual guitar, not a product shot. It must have a strat-shaped body (my pacifica doesn't count. Your Strat shaped ESP with three humbuckers and a floyd rose and a pointy headstock does.) That should be fine.

P.S. The first Strat I fell in love with didn't even have a name on the headstock... She cost R100 second hand in 1991 but sounded right and played great. Wish I still had her... Took me a long time and plenty of $$$ spent to realize that the name on the headstock and country of manufacture should always be fourth and fifth to the combination of quality, feel and tone of the actual axe in your hands... If she works for you, she works. The rest is a bonus.

I don't recall having pics of her. Will check and post if I do find something. Basically, she was a stock black Stratocaster with unfinished neck, rosewood fretboard and no headstock logo. Feel, tone and action was exceptional.

Do roadstars count (not the ibanez looking ones but the more traditional looking ones)? The horns are slightly different from the regular strat shape...

I'd say, if it's close enough for you to regard it as your Strat, it's a Strat.

My Strat circa a couple years ago. The S1 switch is gone and theknobs have changed (to ebony domes) and it's a bit more roadworn around the edges, otherwise it's the same.

The Strat is basically a Strat, but tweaked just the way I like 'em. Most notable features are the piezo saddles, fat flame neck with a pao ferro fingerboard and stainless frets and the middle switch position is all three pups on.

Neck is something of a flamer:

I'm still considering adding a Graph Tech Hexpander board to the piezos to add 13-pin too. Only thing stopping me is adding a third cable, like my Sanox or running the piezos via the GR-55 and out to the rack, which will mean changing the setup a bit.

I love the recessed stuff on that strat Alan. It's REALLY nice...

I like strats. I have a USA Highway 1 that I've used a lot and use weekly for teaching but they're not my ideal guitar.

Having said that, that binding on Reinhard's strat is awesome... I love binding...

Only thing original on this are the body & neck.

Rebuild has included:
- Callaham bridge
- Tonerider City Limits pups
- ACME electrics
- Fender locking tuners, pickguard, knobs, PUP covers, screws, ...
- graphtec nut & string trees
- ebony wooden tuner knobs
- strap locks

Have bought a replacement neck which had been refretted by Foster.
Waiting to pop that in.

That's gorgeous! Didn't Fender drop the fretboard binding on the EJ sig strats at some stage? If so I reckon it was around '09 when they did it, but you can easily determine the year from the S/N.

Thanks chaps! An idea I got from ~~someone else (can't remember who. Thorn? Tyler?)~~ Ron Kirn. Really helps if you like the thick stainless neck plates like I do.

Thanks! I'm not sure, the maple ones didn't have the binding, but I think all the RW models have the binding. BTW your CS strat is stunning, is that a Mary Kaye finish?

@Alan , did you you do the recess work yourself?

@Zark, seafoam green is one of my favourite strat colours and fender really makes it a pain in the ass to get it. You either have to go special/limited run, CS or Mexican? to get it. An Am Std in seafoam green would sell like beer at a Metallica concert.

Yup. Freehand with a Dremel.

Almost forgot - the Neutrik locking jack on the side is recessed too - that's what really got me into recessing as they are quite big.
