If I want to type something like "See Alan spank his Ibanzez! Click on www dot plankspankers.com/ratcliffe" then how can I do that?
OK.... let's back track a little. In another thread I wanted to direct the reader to a specific YouTube video. I did this in the usual way. When I went to "proof read" that post I found that the particular clip had embedding disabled. So now I wanted to just provide the URL so that reader could click through, open up a new browser or tab, or just surf over to YouTube and punch in the rest of the URL.
I couldn't find a way to do it. If I just typed the URL as plain text the forum software still converted it to a link to the video and embedded it within my post. EVERYTHING I tried gave the same results.
Eventually I had to type it in in the format "www dot youtube.com/whatever".
Is there a way to just present a URL as a string of characters that can be copied and pasted?

I'm afraid that, for Videos, no there isn't a way to just post the URL. It will always try to embed it. You can safely type it in like so:
www. youtube. com/whatever
And then just tell the reader to join the dots ? I have an idea of how we can fix this but it will have to come later.

That's right. I found out this morning that it's only the video links that do it. So maybe the software is looking for the word "youtube". In which case using a service like tinyurl might be a work around.
