Last night I finally decided to hook up my combo to my PA that runs two 10's on stands. I was mucking around with different sounds and guitars until I plugged my acoustic into it and ran a bit of chorus and reverb for flavour.
Whoa........this sound totally changed what I was used to, it sounded so warm and every note was so sharp, I was plucking the E string every few beats and it sounded like someone was behind me with a kick drum just ever so gently giving a soft thump. It even got me slowing up some electric guitar tunes and singing along.
So this made me think................
Sometimes singing with an acoustic and nothing else is pretty much all you need.
I want to replicate that sound, but on an amp without the PA.......or with the help of a pedal.....I play through a hiwatt SS G100R, MXR mini chorus and onboard spring reverb. PA is a wharfdale PA500 with two 10's on stands. Is this at all possible? Is maybe looking at another amp what I should be doing? I don't know the terminology for what I'm hearing, but all I know is that I like it.
Any advice?

Yeah - I know what you mean. A good small PA can be very hi-fi and most acoustic amps don't come close until you look at the upmarket brands like AER (most have a shaped EQ that makes the guitar sit better in a band mix, but kills the natural tone). Most also struggle with headroom.
Quite honestly, I think a lot of good powered monitors or powered speakers do a better job than most acoustic amps.
For a simple, portable system I'd probably go with what I have now - a Fishman Aura DI (or Baggs Paracoustic DI) into one of my Proel Flash 12s.
