I've recently decided I'd like to invest in a pair of studio headphones. Nothing that will cost me a fortune, in fact, the cheaper the better. Any idea's on good headphones?

For example, I've heard stellar things about the AKG K77 which is about R500, or the KRK KNS6400 which is just under R1000 (wee bit pricey). Any other contenders?
Sennheisers (sp) 202's.... great value for money esp if your budget is around 500 ront or less....
Wow.. really. awesome. Would never have considered this option. Thanks!
I have a set of audio technica ath m40's which are serving me well. think I paid around R700/800 from the takealot imports section when it was still going.
+1 on the HD202. Affordable and very good cans for studio
It seems as if this is the pair I need to go for. But what about them makes them suitable for 'studio'. Ive done some reading, and Sennheizer advertises them as being good for Dj's and Hi-Fi use. As we all know, Hi-fi's are not a true monitoring system as they add plenty of colour to excite the mix. Are these headphones relatively flat sounding?
That link Alan posted had the frequency repsonse of various headphones, including the Sennheiser 202s as well as a write-up on pretty much every headphone they have...very useful resource actually

They're great for monitoring when you record. No headphones will be good for mixing.

Fair enough, but I just need a pair that can be decent for referencing.
