Micro POG

Has anyone every tried an Electro-Harmonix Micro POG? What were your impressions? :-\

Interesting concept, having both octave up and octave down in one box. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the shifting - very grungy. Of course, that's what some folk like about EHX pedals. ? The octave up has some regeneration/feedback to flesh out the sound, which is something I like on occasion (when building pads), but the lack of control over the amount limits it severely. Still, it's a pretty unusual pedal (as is the full-blown POG2) and if you're in to chasing unusual sounds they are both well worth checking out.

I've always wanted to try a POG pedal but have not able to fork out that kind of cash for an experiment. The concept is so interesting! Another one that also interests me is the EHX Digitech Whammy 5.
I have seen many reviews on youtube on both the POG (s) and Whammy pedals. Most reviewers really like them but they seem to have a specific place in your setup. I am mostly interested because of the White Stripes influences.
They say: "The Electro-Harmonix Micro POG pedal offers you peanut-butter milkshake thick sound." :-[

Also JHS does a mod that gives you extra preset modes! Check it out. It looks awesome! A video to help understand the sound is there as well!

Hey man,
Just got an EHX Epitome today (Micro POG, Elec Mistress, and Holy Grail).
Look, the POG will never be a "have to have" pedal but if you've got your basics down, it's probably one of the best (vs price) octave pedals you can buy.
It's both Down and Up and they both sound pretty damn decent.
A lot of Octave pedals might do Oct Up or Oct Down but not both. Or it might use transformers or different analogue techniques to get octave but glitchy effects.
The MicroPog is digital but the tracking is fantastic - as natural sounding as you can get.
The other considerations are:
Earthquaker Organizer: similar but POG more natural sounding.
Eventide Pitchfactor: much more expensive, but a lot more features.
POG2/HOG: more expensive and more features.
So ya, octave effects definitely aren't the staple of the normal guitarist.
But you certainly get some pretty cool effects.
Also consider the Epitome (like I bought). 3 effects in one. R3500 for 3 great effects is quite a bargain in my opinion.
