I've been using a room mode calculator and to get any type of improvement would call for losing some serious space. Is it really going to be worth it though?
If you have to lose a lot of space, then no.
I used to have a program for designing studio rooms that would run through all the permutations in minutes, trying all the combinations and giving you the best options for the available space. Usually it would come up with a few solutions that would leave the room nearly the same size, but make a big difference to the sound. Sadly it wouldn't run on anything newer than Win 98 though.
