Hi All
So I'm playing a 50 watt Marshall JCM2000 DSL head through a 4X12 AVT Marshall cab. The cab is not full size ( smaller than a 1960 A ).
The problem is the excessive buzzing/rattling/distortion in the cab itself as if the bass on the amp is set to high which it isn't .
The cab is not made of plywood, it made of that chipboard/"weet-bix" boards.
Is there a way I can sort this out? ( sealing the seams with something etc? )
Thanks

Can you check if a speaker cone is torn?

Yeah, could be a faulty speaker...
Depending on the design, it could also be a strut or brace that has worked loose. You'd have to take it apart to check...

The speaker itself might not be tightened enough onto what its fastened onto, but also be careful not too overtighten it also ?

Thanks for the feedback.
I'll take off the back and have a look...

Does it have the standard recessed plastic grab handles on the sides of the cab? If so, try grabbing the round bar handle parts of each handle while someone is playing and the rattle is occurring. If the rattle stops, this confirms my suspicion that it is the handle part of the grab handle rattling inside the recessed mounting. I've encountered this with a few Marshall cabs.
If this is the case, there are 2 ways to resolve this. 1.) Replace the plastic handles with the metal equivalents or 2.) Remove the handles from the cab and put some silicon rubber around where the ends of the round pipe handle come through the sides of the recessed part.

Just to confirm, this cab does have a cloth Grill does it not?
If its a metal grill (unlikely with a Marshall cab, but a valid point none the less), then it could be that doing the rattling, but I also agree with Shaunf about the handles too! Experienced this on many cabs.
