Actually a 1/2 watt amp is perfect for bedroom/personal practice and the Zvex nano is well regarded (aside from the price).
    Love it.
But its been prooven by a few.... that people can't seem to fathom that small wattage can push volume through efficient speakers....and it does.
Also the price vs wattage issue. There is a floor you hit. The prices of components don't get cheaper while wattage goes down.

    But its Brilliant.
(other small amp kicks its butt though)
I must say personally i'm more intruiged of how technology has made high power amps more compact and lightweight and how small cabs / speakers can sound huge and handle high power

companies like ZT , MARK , BOSE , MAMBO are making small guitar amps at 5 - 10 kg that are pushing 80- 120w and are using compact cabs and small speakers yet offer giggable quality and volume ...

So low power amps may be a novelty and useful in the bedroom studio but give me a small giggable amp ( as a stand alone amp not mic'd up ) and you have a winner..... Technology is getting there ....

I have to agree. I use my VOX on it's 1/4 watt setting for practice and every once in a while my wife reminds me to turn the volume down. Okay, it might just be me :-\
Rev Billy Gibbons sure as hell like 'em.

He likes it so much he uses 5 8)

love it , I would stick this on my pedalboard and feed it into a cab if i could find one at a great price

              Slightly OT :

I love the idea of small 5watt amps (Marshall Class 5 / Swart / old Gibsons and, and, and) but there is a big diff between a low wattage amp plugged into a 4X12 cab, moving your drivers 3mm forward and back wards, compared to a high power amp slamming those speakers 2cm forwards and back wards.
I love ZVEX. I have a Distrotron and a SHO clone.

I've always wanted to try the Nano amp but as you guys mentioned its very pricey.

Ive always wanted to try the Eminence Reignmaker or Maverick. They have an attenuater built into the speaker itself to cut volume by changing the space between the magnet and the voice coil via a dial on the back of the magnet..

I must still get used to the idea of an amp less than 30 watt RMS and having less than 2x12 heavy duties in the cab.... ?
