Tool

Nebster

Hey guys!

Any Tool fans here?
Anyone know when the new album will be released?

flatfourfan

Big fan here..........I heard that it's not going to be in 2013. There was talk and no talk and then some more talk and last thing I heard was that Keenan said that it's no-where near done.

Nebster

Jeeeees. You just don't know with Tool.

flatfourfan

Knowing them , there will be nothing one day and done and released the next......

Nebster

It's actually kinda cool if you think about it cause by the time they release it, it's a much bigger surprise and excitement levels are higher.
Ah well probably best just to forget about it till its there.

Cleric

Massive fan here. General opinion in the community is that it's either Oct/Nov this year, or Q1 2014. All I know is that I have a seperate bank account with money saved for my flight and concert ticket to see them perform as soon as they tour it. Same for NIN.

I dont have any of their albums or knowledge of their song names... But when i hear tool playing on the radio or at a party , I crank the volume and Enjoy.

Norman86

this is the band with the extremely weird time signatures?!

That's right, and "extremely weird" might even be an understatement. Their music is a tad too noisy for my ear but their time signatures make it fascinating to listen to. I reckon they're real musicians' musicians, know what I'm sayin'.

Norman86

what exotic time signatures do they use again?

and which songs would i be able to hear them on?

This song has a few bars of 5/4 but then changes into a compound 5/8 & 7/8 signature. Later on the signature changes again to a very weird compound signature of 6/8 & 7/8.

Tool rocks my socks, that is all....

Quite interesting to hear the development of their sound. You can think of the Opiate as pretty "straight forward" rock versus the a lot of the trippy/more experimental tracks they have in later albums.

Agreed. One thing I've noticed is that it's hard to come across people who really dislike them, even if their style doesn't appeal to everyone.

I'm a huge fan, except for when they fall off Vespa's while riding in the rain, crack three ribs and delay the new album. As far as rock star injuries go, that's pretty weak.

Now that sounds like a plan!! Yeah freakin stoked about NIN returning this year!!

okay, the songs not too bad.. not my style... but the vid is freaky ???

anywho, how does one count a 5/4 rhythm? or 7/8 for that matter?

and dont they have some other song with an "extreme" time signature?
and how would you count that?

im very curious about this ? thanks!
