Excellent choice vic .... Amazing guitar
re the reversed neck pup ..... When jazz guitar icon fitted a 57 humbucker into the neck position his non pickup L5 , he fitted it reversed by accident .... His tone is legendary so many jazz players flip the neck pup around ... For nostalgia , or chasing wes's tone only the player will know ..... ? But its legendary jazz " folk lore"
btw wes left it like that in his 1st L5
and on the jazz forum many tried reversing it and found little if any noticable difference .... Pickup height and tecnique ( wes was unique in that he "thumbed" most everything) made more difference ?
back to vics super 400 ... Love to see it up close .... So next on the GAS list is a top end jazz amp .... ? , a henriksen maybe? Old polytone ?
Enjoy this beauty
Thanks Keira and much thanks for the info regarding the flipped pup...thought it was "flippen"mistake....Well, if it's good enough for Wes.....! ? So when you and your trio ever come down here you can see her up close and take her through her paces ...INVITE ! ? I'm getting fair results with the Fender Bandmaster so far but it's really not voiced to get THAT tone which we're chasing. Oh yes ! an old Polytone would be fantastic !
Another thing...this is a
heavy guitar. They weigh in in the Les Paul territory > 8.5-9 LBS. It will also present a challenge for the smaller player especially playing sitting down.
