  • Jimmy Page Kicks Off Modeling Career

We may still be waiting for details of Jimmy Page‘s alleged 2013 solo tour, but we do know of at least one place we’ll be able to see the former Led Zeppelin guitarist this year: In the photo spreads for menswear designer John Varvatos’ next ad campaign.

Page met up with rising young axeslinger Gary Clark, Jr. for the shoots, which took place in London at the Rivoli Ballroom. Enthused Clark, “It was an honor to work with John Varvatos on his new campaign and to be paired alongside a legend like Jimmy Page for this shoot.”

Varvatos was pretty excited himself — as he put it in a statement, “Jimmy Page has been a music and fashion icon of mine since 1970. He has been a major influence and I am honored to call Jimmy a friend. Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal — amazing guitar player, singer, songwriter and friend. Having ‘The Master’ and the ‘Young Guitar-Slinger’ together in our campaign is a dream come true.”

Page and Clark are in good company with the campaign — previous Varvatos shoots have included Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Slash, and Aerosmith‘s Joe Perry. You can see more at the company’s website.

Jimmy Page: doing duck-face before it was cool.

I wonder sometimes how much money some of them do have. Some rock stars thought to have shed loads of money get into things that you go hmmm.... Classic example being Dylan's advertising campaign for Victoria's Secret. It doesn't seem to mesh with any concepts of artistic integrity, so why do they do it? Because the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about? Or do they need the dosh?
Bob. Zeppelin are loaded beyond our wee imaginations. They wrote the book on capitalising on their success. For every $ JP spent on heroine, he was squirreling away $20. This was one group that was not taken for a ride by the record company, and continued to make shedloads ever since on merchandising, reissues, films, live concert recordings, you name it. Your question is valid for a lot of bands, but Zeppelin and the Stones are not included there.

And yes Alan, wealth does seem to suit Jimmy Page, rather well - especially in recent years. Why he looked far older ten years ago ?
