I went to tour to Joburg to perform a three week run at the Civic theatre during the middle of matric. I missed four mid year exams, as well as rehearsing heavily during the others. It's possible dude ?
Yeah but D-Man is hoping to get into an actuarial sciences degree and they only take the best of the best... If he's missing exams and isn't able to rewrite later (meaning he just gets grade average.... And lets face it, you need to be way above grade average for actuarial....) his marks suffer and some universities will even completely discount his Application even if he does brilliantly in the final exams.... It happened to my cousin... She pushed her marks from 36APS points to 51APS with her finals but of the 3 universities she applied at, only 1 accepted her while the others put her on "the waiting list"
And even if he does get accepted, just remember, some degrees are far harder and more time consuming than others... I've been told by numerous people (qualified architects, students and people just wanting to scare me) that architecture students sometimes stay in the studios until I ungodly hours in the night trying to finish up their models....
As for matric... Most of us have to go through it anyway. Heck I went through it twice..... Kinda.... (Parents weren't happy with 60's for math and science and made me rewrite the exams... Had to go through extra lessons the whole of last year, while working, to keep my brain from going pap...)
I alway had time for a quick jam session whenever I felt like it at home... Then again, at school, you were head boy and I was just that rebellious hoodlum who never attended compulsory events, acted in the schools production of Grease to get chicks (didn't work...), parents raged at me once or twice or more for making fun of their weird kids, always complaining about the school and would heckle the speakers at assembly for the fun of it... Apples and pears man ? apples and pears.....
