Hey guys,

So im looking for one last thing, a decent suede leather strap.

I haven’t seen any nice ones around in the shops, and I have found one that I like and seems to have good reviews in the states..
Now, if no one can help here, I have a friend who is currently in the states, who doesn’t mind bringing me something small back!
Damn luggage restrictions! So I cant help everyone, sorry!

Anyhow, the one that tickles my fancy.

Do we have anything similar around here I might have missed?
I see rockit distributes them here?

But I can get it from amazon at only $27 including shipping! Less than R240 for a quality strap?! Yes?! No?!
Straps with a suede backing are easily obtained here. Music Connection have a decent selection. If you want ALL suede then that might be harder to find.

Rockit are not "rocket". They're not fast in getting things to the shops. They're the guys behind the current slowness of Elixir strings and Tusq pieces (I've heard three shops now moaning about Rockit - either it's a conspiracy amongst stores or rockit are less than rocket-like).
thanks bob... music connection is a bit of a schlep to get to..
its at least 50 minutes away on a good day ☹
OK... but the straps they are selling are not exotic or exclusive-to-them brands (one brand is locally made), so try shops closer to home.
I have the exact same strap on my Carvin Nylon - a real nice, soft strap, but a bit narrow for me for any heavier guitar (I like 3.5" straps for electric).

I bought it locally from Bothners for about R250 (IIRC). Bothner's were the Levy's distributors at the time, but I'm not sure if they still are.
The nicest ones I saw were in Cape Town at Bothner's (I bought a gorgeous one to go with my Strat). I haven't seen that particular brand up here (think it was Levy), but if you can find them they're the best I've seen, and reasonably priced (think I paid R350 or so).

I was at Tom's earlier and they have a number of leather straps, the nicest ones being Cole Clark straps for R1000 (way overpriced). There are a number of Billy's straps (made in Zim, I believe) which aren't bad, but I would strongly suggest you go and try some out with your guitar. Leather straps are the least adjustable of all, and you need to be sure that the strap will place the guitar where you want it.

I just bought a strap for my Music Man, and I'm going to need to punch new holes in the strap to make it fit (I won't pay R1000 for a different strap).

thanks guys... will take a look asap! ?

I have a Billy's sued-backed leather strap on my strat and really like it. They are quite long though (I have mine on the shortest and it's at about hip height) so if you like your guitar high up, you'll have to get another hole put in.

I went to Levinger's yesterday and get a couple new holes cut for me, paid the dude a few ronts for his effort. Guitar height is now perfect for me (read: nerdish ?).
i opted to get a Levy MS4 in brown.. 3.5" of suede goodness!
would have preferred the burgundy, but such is life...
Along with some nice gold Hennessey strap locks! (similar to the gunmetal ones i currently have)

The nice thing about the ms4 is the range of lengths, from 36" to 52", so im pretty sure it'll suit me!
                    I am shortish after all!

The only drawback?! i have to wait till me friend comes back on the 22nd of jan :'(
