Watched the Band of Joy DVD yet? There's some unusual gear on stage. Buddy Miller gets through a whole gig with no Ibanii, no Les Paul, no Strats, no Tele, nothing with the name Fender on the headstock and the only Gibsons he plays are acoustics.
Notably we see him playing these...
A pair of Wandre Soloists. Wandre is an Italian brand that was in business from about 1959 to 1970. Some unusual features include aluminium necks and trapezoidal pickups.
In this shot you get a better idea of the hardware and the push button pickup switching
Also seen on this DVD full of rare delights (musical and equipment) are an old Gretsch Black Penguin, a Danelectro baritone electric, some weird electric mandolin which I haven't yet got a positive ID on and on Darrell Scott's side of the stage a Stefan Sobell acoustic and another Sobell instrument that I think is an octave mandolin. Scott gets positively boring with a fairly conventional looking Gretsch.
Patti Griffin plays Gibson jumbos. Boo! Hiss! Spoil sport!
Bass player Byron House gets in on the action with a gold top Epiphone semi-acoustic bass.
