Hi All

I'm in the porcess of modding my Tokai EX55, changing the gold hardware to black, the bridge pup cover to black etc etc.

I want to change the VOL VOL Tone layout to a master Volume and tone and remove the middle pot. This spot will be where the
toggle switch will be going to switch between the Rail,P90 and humbucker on the SD PRAIL pup going in the neck position.

Now, I'm "electonically handicapped" and whilst I find electronics extremely interesting, I have no freaking clue what goes on.

Will a "on-off-on" and "on-on-on" toggle switch ( both DPDT with 6 terminals ) do the same thing in the sense of being able to switch between these
on the P-RAIL?

According to the SD wiring schematics, it's a "on-off-on",.... why not a "on-on-on"?

Does the voltage and amperage values of a switch make any difference when used in guitars?

I've also looked at the SD Triple Shot mounting ring, but the switches look a bit flimsy and I might forget over time what configuration is what.
( will probably be able to hear the differences, but why struggle when I can use a straightfoward 3 position switch and know that for eg. up is the P90,
middle is the "humbucker" and down is the rail.)

Thanks

No. On-Off-On is used because it works by shorting out one or the other coil. If you use an On-On-On, the middle position, both pickups are shorted (also with a two pole On-On-On switch, the middle position is special).

    No, not at all.

      Hi All

Need a second pair of eyes please, does the below mock up look correct. This is what I am planning on for the Explorer

      Assistance as always greatly appreciated.
That looks right. You can also use an on-on-on switch, but it would be wired differently, using both sides of the switch.

Any reason you are not tapping the bridge pickup too?

Was waiting for that question from you... ?

I might tap it using master tone later on when I get my hands on a push pull pot.

          thanks for the feedback Alan.
