Hi everyone :) I just bought a Laney lionheart L5t. Very cool amp. It's a 5w tube amp with 3 preamp tubes and 1 power amp tube. It has a clean and drive channel, with a footswitch and also has reverb. It has 1 12" spk It's perfect for me because it has the vintage killer tone of a really good tube amp, but the biggest thing is because it's only 5w you can crank the tubes and let it sing and it's not overboard loud. It really is a great little amp with amazing tone. Unless you are playing stadium gigs or huge venues chances are you don't need more than this. I don't think metal would work on this guy, not clean enough, but vintage tone deluxe!
I've looked at those. Nice amps, just overpriced for what they are.
what do they cost if you dont mind me asking?
IIRC, the retail price was over R13K. Excessive for a 5W amp, even if it has a 12" Celestion in it.
Hmmmm, ok i got mine for half of that...
Well done! You buy secondhand or on a sale? Well worth it at that price ?
I just phoned a well known music store and asked for there best price, no sale, brand new. A friend of mine bought one in a shop in durban for even a bit less. Not sure why the retail price is so much, maybe the markup is really big???

By the way, don't be fooled by the 5w, apparently the celestion is 20w, not sure, but i do know that this amp is loud... You must play one if you can. think you'll be impressed ?
I just checked Stateside and, while the retail there is $1,399 (Roughly R14,000), they sell at about $849 (R8,500). Usually "street price" in the US doesn't relate to discounted price here, but I suppose you never know...

Well, 5W is loud - all else being equal, it's half as loud as a 50W valve amp. The main disadvantage of a smaller amp like this is a lack of clean headroom.

I did and was. Ideal as a studio amp. My only reservation was the price...

Now if these are more reasonably priced lately, this would be something I could go for.

Anybody seen one of these in a store lately and remember the price?

Already sent a mail to Be Music (bmusic.co.za), who are Laney's SA distributor, asking about the Cub12R and this model. Not sure if they sell directly to the public though.

Looks like I have New Year's GAS
BeMusic are part of the Bothner group, so you can usually find them easily enough from any of the Bothner stores (Jean Village Music in Gauteng), but any store should be able to get them.

BTW - there were three Laneys in the classifieds recently: both a 5W and a 20W Lionheart as well as a Cub 10.

Thanks. After I made my post, I actually ended up Googling the Lionheart for local pricing. Anyway, I must have missed the GFSA classified ad in my forum search in which I found toastyrat's post, but then my Google search for local pricing produced a result pointing me back to GFSA classifieds.

My bid is in for the L5T-112.....woohooh ?

                      Cheers

                      Bob
