Hi Guys

I just got my fender blues deluxe reissue today from a guy in cape town. The reverb however does not work at all.
What are some of the things I can do to test it? If I need to take it in where would a GOOD place be?
Its awesome getting my dream amp....Just wish it would work 100%.

Thanks guys
The BDR has a classic separate reverb tank; first thing to check is if the to/fro lead is properly connected into the amp. Check out the black 'twin' wire to the right in the picture, should be similar to yours.

I am not sure how this connects to tank or main chassis, but there should be a jack of sorts on one side or the other. Most likely, this has come loose during transport. There's half a dozen other ways to not have reverb while the rest of the amp works, but not nearly as likely as a loose connection - all other connections are on the board to opamp U2.

Edit: the two wires coming through the rightmost hole in the back face of the chassis, to the right of the speaker, in between the three flatcables, would be the prime suspects to me.
I have taken the reverb tank out and I am trying to find a test to see if the reverb tank has a fault or not. If I play music through it will that be a decent test? If I connect the output cable from the reverb tank to the input side I get full reverb however its not mixing the guitar singal in. If I connect the output cable to the input I get no signal coming out. Surely I should get signal out both ways if it were working 100%?
Slow down ? I am not following what experiment you have just done, but start by connecting everything normally. Now plug in the guitar, let the open strings ring and bang the reverb tank around a bit - you should be hearing guitar and clang clang springs hitting the tank. If you only hear guitar or only tank, this takes us one step further.
Typically, a spring reverb takes a lot of signal to get excited and the output takes a lot of amplification to get some signal out. You cannot just connect it to an amp and expect it to give any sound, even if you shake it hard. There might be something wrong with the pot, the opamp, the power to this opamp etc but when faultfinding one must not change 10 things at once and expect to be able to then tell what's wrong.
I have been saving up for this guy for four years and I got it today so yes I am a little hasty sorry about that. I hear absolutely zero reverb when everything is connected correctly. Nothing. I had a marshall vs100 witha huge reverb tank in for the last six years so I understand what you mean by "Banging the reverb tank".

On the reverb tank there are two wires. Red is input. Black is output. Amp>red cable>reverb tank INPUT>Reverb Tank OUTPUTblack cable>amp. That is the flow.

          My test.

Black cable>reverb tank OUTPUT= Sweet reverb....Obviously just tapping it slightly
          Black cable>Reverb tank INPUT= Nothing....

I am not at all sure if this is a relevant test.
Sometimes the transducers in the tank can shake loose during transport (one on either end of the spring). Open the tank and have a look at the input transducer specifically.
I checked both and I cant see any loose wires or connections. All solder points seem to be fine. I don't have a multimeter to test though. I assume I will need to take this in somewhere....
just to check, have you used the footswitch to put the reverb on?!

could be an oversight?! maybe the footswitch is faulty, and not the reverb/ reverb tank!

other than that, are the cables plugged in and seated properly? both on the amp and reverb tank side?!

Fender amps default to reverb on, even without footswitch, but it could also be a dirty/faulty footswitch jack.
Checked with the footswitch plugged in. I am sure it must be the reverb tank. If I plug in the output cable from the reverb tank to the amp and I switch on revreb its there. When I switch it off its gone. So no issues with the switch and clearly the amp is engaging reverb so I can only assume its the reverb tank. Anyone know where I should go from here? TOMS?
There is a dude called Andy Barnes who is based in woodmead. I would send that amp to him.
I no longer have his number, but any shop would. He does the repairs for all the jozi shops I know of, apart from Toms in braamfontein, who do their own.

and with the footswitch plugged out? sorry, just curious! ?
With the footswitch out it still yields no reverb....any Idea where I can get Andys number?
Tried three times and no answer....will try again later.
Hahah yeah he's not the most reliable of guys to be fair. But he's a champion and he will fix it. Even if you have to call him twenty times.
eish.. that wouldnt make me feel warm and fuzzy.. ?
So I must send my dream amp of to someone who is unreliable and never returns my calls.....Might as well buy an eventide space echo and be done with it.
Pete Buckle builds valve amps, he's in Benoni, ask if he can fix it (011) 973-4831. Absolute master craftsman!
Thank you for that number!!! Phoned him and he sounds like a legend. Will be dropping my amp off at his place soon!
