Bob-Dubery Reinhard wrote Gearhead wrote Norman86 wrote nothing has been done yet... Oh no not one of those dreamy threads... Will it actually happen or not? Norman86 posted the body is in transit and the neck is being made. Should he be screwing the pickups into his coffee table and stringing it up? ??? Well it worked for Jack White and Seasick Steve...
Norman86 the body is sitting with wayne... and what a mighty fine body she is... im super excited... ?
Norman86 Paint has been decided on for the body.. Looking to go for a dark red burst to a darker than normal amber centre.. No staining will be involved though... im scared the flame might turn up the way i dont like it! the rear of the body will get the same transparent red used on the burst. The neck is being worked on too.. It'll be a slightly amber maple neck, with flame maple fingerboard! Im STILL waiting on parts that have been in shipping since the middle of October. Screw you SAPO >☹ So if all goes well, i should receive a early Christmas present! Thanks go out to Neon Gecko of course! what a great guy to work with ?
Tokai-SA Norman86 wrote Im STILL waiting on parts that have been in shipping since the middle of October. Screw you SAPO >☹ I clear a few Warmoth packages a month for a friend of mine. Your package must be sitting at customs for a few weeks now. Do you have a CJ/US tracking number.?..you're in Kempton Park, take a drive to the International Mail centre and go find it...if it's coming USPS then it's there. ? Who's assembling/setting up the guitar for you?
Norman86 i have an LN trackimg number.. not showing on ems, but shows on usps.. i'll have to go there then >☹ the guitar, once everythings arrived and ready to be assembled, will be done by Costafonix!
Norman86 update time... some good news at last… Some packages are already at the post office… My pickups are! Eventually! I got hold of a guy at SAPO customer services who tracked my package and told me its currently at my post office. This, after no one else at JIMC or SAPO could, or wanted to, help. Even now, it doesn’t show that my package has gone through customs! So thanks to Ben Blignaut at SAPO for the help! Hell, I even posted a compliment on Hellopeter regarding that! can one believe that?! What a nice guy.. If anyone ever needs help tracking something, let me know, I’ll give you Ben’s email! Anywho, my pickups are here, my pickguard hardware is here, and my tuners should be at the post office tomorrow according to, well, my post office! The neck is being worked on, and from next week I should have some photo updates! All in all, im very excited! My custom is only a few weeks away! Caliopa, my Fender Std Strat, will be going up for sale then soon!
Norman86 Okay, so my Sperzel Trim-Lok tuning machines and white Tusq XL nut were not yet at the post office... :-\ but soon... hopefully! But my Fender Custom Shop Custom 54 pickups and the rest of the pickguard hardware was.. CRL Switch, CTS 250k pots, Switchcraft jack, Sprague Orange drop 0.047uF Cap, Vintage style potted cloth hookup wire... So at least my pickguard can get wired up in the meantime! Yeah! 8) Progress is happening! ? In other guitar related news, My pedalboard is being built saterday, and i now have all my pedals too! Hell yeah 8) If i knew how to use delay properly, which im learning, i wouldnt mind getting either another Flashback, or that Catalinbread echorec, or something like a Strymon el capistan! Delay really is a fun and interesting effect! Anywho, just wanted to share my excitement! ?
Norman86 Oh yeah.. something im not THAT keen on is the very low 12:1 ratio of the Sperzels... They are staggered though, and locking, so i suppose it'll be fine! really would have liked a higher gearing like 18:1 or 24:1 though! but such things are much more expensive from the little i could look around!
Norman86 stupid question... there are mo markings on the pups to know which is the neck, middle and bridge.. so, do they just get installed as they come out the retail packaging? ie: top neck, middle middle and bottom bridge? cheers!
Tokai-SA Norman86 wrote stupid question... there are mo markings on the pups to know which is the neck, middle and bridge.. so, do they just get installed as they come out the retail packaging? ie: top neck, middle middle and bottom bridge? cheers! The neck and middle pickup are the same output, 5.9k, the bridge is 6.5k. Get your tech to measure the resistance and put the 6.5K in the bridge, makes no difference with the neck and middle.
racman This is going to be cool Norman - thanks for sharing. (As far as delays go, check out Brents' TRex Replica for sale in the classifieds - you can't go wrong with that and a great price as well. I bought his Diamond MLjr and it is fantastic!)
Norman86 thanks guys! roy, i'd love to, but that money for a new toy would be better suited to going towards the paintjob on the body ? i hate priorities ?
Attila Listen Norm, enough with the chatter ... already ? Lets start the build ........ son trek water .
Norman86 guys guys... wayne has the body by him as they're working on the neck.. so all im gonna do in the meantime is the pickguard! well, not me myself, somone else who i trust will! Costafonix! ? dunno if i mentioned it, but im looking to add a neck on switch to the pickguard!
Norman86 okay, so here are the first pictures of the work happening! the first four are of the neck work of a previous neck being started, as mine was mostly done up to that part. my neck starts with the pictures of the headstock being worked on.. you'll notice some nice flame in the fingerboard! i think it matches the body very nicely! and then of the body getting the first layer of pore filler... let me just say, daaaaaayum! body paint should start sometime next week! 8)
Norman86 thanks guys ? final delivery will only be in a few weeks though, drying and curing times for the paint!
