Trapeze tailpiece
i don't know of anywhere around here.
over the seas, try:
eBay (where I get mine):http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=guitar+tailpiece&_sacat=0&_from=R40
allparts: http://www.allparts.com/Tailpieces-s/146.htm
stewmac: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces.html
elderly: http://elderly.com/accessories/cats/GETP.html
guitar parts resource: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/gbridge_tailpiece.htm
all of these generally ship to SA at reasonable rates (very cheaply on ebay).
good luck!

Many thankx for the info, a friend of mine who is an engineer has just popped in and reckons he can make some up for me. We sat doing a few designs, sooooooo I'll see what he comes up with.
No offense to your engineer friend, I would not want to make up my own tailpiece if I can buy one with proven Tonal properties.
By no means the easiest or cheapest approach, but I say go for it ?. And show us what you come up with (and maybe make some extras - I would probably be interested ?)deebee wrote: Many thankx for the info, a friend of mine who is an engineer has just popped in and reckons he can make some up for me. gearhead, experimentation is the father of invention - so, if what he makes is no good, then i'll use something else, but, i like the idea of making everything myself, with some help. I've got three necks that i've just made, and instead of a truss rod, i routed out along the length of the neck, inserted a 10mm stainless steel bar, and bedded it in with a two part epoxy. I made an axe at the beginning of the year, and used the same procedure on the neck. To date it's 100%. Thankx for all the interest and comments guys.
