What is a Pedal Party?
We'll be doing some guitar pedal shootouts with overdrive, distortion & wah pedals, comparing some of the best new pedals on the market to the old favourites that most players are familiar with so you get a real idea of what they sound like in comparison. You'll also get to hear some of the cool and crazy new pedals you might not have seen before. We'll speak about effects chain, the different pedal bypass systems, choosing the right pedals to compliment your guitar & amp and powering your pedals. Plus you'll have a chance to try them out for yourself. Whether you're in the market for new pedals or not we do guarantee that you'll enjoy it and that you'll learn something in the process.

Awesome! Always been jealous of all the other pedal partys that weren't in Durban. Looking forward to this ?

Hey Wesley, will be cool to meet you in person. Still enjoying that guitar?

Anyone else in Durban coming? Don't say we don't ever do anything for you. ?
I'll be there, most definitely. I need a new pedal to lust after ?
And anyway, it's my birthday in a week. What better way to celebrate than with multiple...pedals (if you know what I mean ?).
Sounds good... I'll try to make it.
Cool! Will be great to meet all you guys in person. ?
Ah you okes are killing me ... getting out this week is going to be tough ☹

Yup, using the neck from that roadstar on my other roadstar at the moment, love the feel of that neck ? still need to work on my other neck to put on the body of that roadstar though
I'm so bleak! As luck would have it, I have a meeting in Pietermaritzburg on that evening. ☹

                    See you next time, hopefully.

Cool. Glad you getting some use out of it. ?

Ah, that sucks man. I was hoping you could make it. Just blow off your meeting. Pedals are more important than earning a steady income. ?
So I went to the pedal party last night. Thanks Mr T for the presentation. There was a good turnout, particularly for Durbs... must have been 40 to 50 guitarists there... but no-one else from GFSA that I could see.

It was great to be able to compare the different pedals although a little confusing to the ears considering the number of different pedals. However, 2 pedals stood out for me.... both for their definition and clarity across the frequency spectrum. What I liked about the ZVEX Distortron was its flexibility with fanatastic control over the amount of distortion from clean through drive to heavy distortion. I enjoyed the mid-boost switch on the MXR Custom Badass Modified OD which would allow the guitar to really cut through the band when needed.

                        Thanks again MR T.
Thanks for coming Pete! It was great to meet you. ? The actual attendance was 63 people, which was incredible for a miserable rainy evening in Durban. With the weather we weren't expecting much, so it was fantastic to see so much support.

There was a guy there in a Strymon T-shirt, so I was wondering if he could have been a fellow GFSA member... ???

                          Some pics:

That is a good turn out, I'm sorry I couldn't make it. Couldn't have been a worse week for it this year for me unfortunately.
I completely forgot about this!!! ☹

Sorry you couldn't make it. Maybe we'll do it next year again...? I'm sure Alan will graciously post it on GFSA should there be another at some stage.

Myself and Pete were looking for you, but no Wesley. ?
                                  Strymon t shirt guy!!!

Thats me. I am jacked up on coffee at the moment. Three exams in a row this week so I am studying hard. Also, it's my birthday, which is horrible considering I can't do anything except study.

I really really like the distortron. I am thinking of my replacing my mudhoney with it...I also wish there had been a more thorough look into the delaylab, but I understand that the pedal market is small as it is, so may as well focus on overdrives which everyone likes.

Man, it makes me sad :/ next year though for sure!

Ah, so I was right! ? And it was a nice shirt. ? Didn't really meet you, but thanks for coming.

Sucks that you're studying on your birthday, but at least there is coffee to make you happy. ?

Glad you liked the Distrotron. Pete liked that one a lot too and seemingly so did everyone because that's the one I was answering the most questions on afterwards. I wanted to get a bit more in depth on the Delaylab, but we were getting on for time and the natives were getting restless. ? The whole thing was supposed to take much quicker, but I had to do a lot more explaining and question answering than usual, which meant I was pushed for time when we got to the Delayab and couldn't get quite as in depth as I wanted to. I guess Durbanites are starved for this sort of thing? BTW, the Delaylab (the last unsold one in SA AFAIK) and all the pedals are still there if you want to go and do your own investigating.

Yeah, was looking forward to saying hi and comparing Roadstar notes. ☹ If we do it again, you'll be the first to know.
Is the Distortron the same as the Box of Rock distortion side?
