Alrighty then...so Ive read up a moerse lot on all the forums I could find, and Ive read more than once that, like @ZarK said, even the PAF Pro's in the neck position of a S470 was almost too treble-ey...so Ill definitely not be getting the EJ's or the From Hell. Ive come to the realization that an Ibanez S will never be old-school. It just doesnt fit the part (even if you can make it sound so it still wouldnt pull it off) so rather than try and fix too much at once, just improve it for what it is: a fat power chord, ballsy lead machine ?
And with that statement rises my last question:
PAF Pro or what about the Evolution Neck?
http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/humbuckers/evolution-neck.
Ive read a lot of guys putting in Norton's, Air Zone's and so on but havn't really heard anything about the Evo? The description hints that it might not be to everyone's liking though? The Pro is 5/5/6 and the Evo is 6/6/6.5
I especially like the line "...have our patented dual-resonance configuration to reproduce more harmonic overtones than conventional humbuckers. " but that is followed up by "...are not polite-sounding, and they’re not for the inexperienced, but – if you’ve got the chops and a hot amp – your sound will burn."
Im pretty sold on the PAF Pro' tbh, but just thought Id get an opinion on the Evo ?
EDIT: the Evo's sounds awesome, but I dont think it is a lead pu rather than general playing / chord work pu?
