Mon-Thurs "Drivetime" : Familiar/Sing-a-long stuff + a few minutes of comedy. The classics from CCR, Beatles, Rodrigeuz, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zep, plus a few playlisted tunes that are sing-a-longish.
Fri + Sat : remixing with a guest DJ. Remix rock, house/electro, funk tracks on the fly. Throw a lot of samples in and have a laugh - all uptempo (120-135bpm)
Sun : Jazz/blues chilling : Etta James, BB King, Ray Charles, Santana, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Hugh Masekela, etc
Or I'd just ask Chris Pryor (da man!) to play ?
If I was doing a show I'd avoid these. As brilliant as many of these songs are, they're so overplayed that (to me) they're in danger of losing their impact because you know you're going to hear them on every one of these typese of radio shows and at O'hagans type pubs all over the place - they become part of the background rather than something special. I wouldn't want to contribute to that. I would never play Stairway on a radio show even though it might just be my all-time favourite. I'd have to try and keeo it a bit fresher than that.
The songs you mentioned would definitely go down well with the majority though ?
