If you prefer Apple products for their sleek lines or sex appeal then be my guest, but don't tell me it is better than the S3, because it isn't.
+1
But ... this applies to other brands too.
Good brands are created for many reasons; including ground-breaking innovation & quality.
But we see fundamentalist love for the brand continuing long after the original reasons have faded.
Most easily demonstrated in the world of clones.
Of any product.
Where one can scientifically demonstrate that the clone is an improvement over the original, but people stay faithful to the original due to brand love.
It's the same force as Nationalism - one of
the most powerful forces known to man.
You shout for the green & gold no matter how many games they've lost in a row ... or how bad the team is.
Because they are wearing green & gold.
In reality you
become green & gold.
Your relationship shifts from the product to the brand.
And thus easy to understand why the successful brands have invested so much money & effort into the marketing machine.
The factory manufactures the product.
The marketing manufactures the brand.
Ultimately the brand creates more profit than the product.
