EPL 2012/2013

Season starts on the weekend, gotta say I'm excited. Man City will build on last season's success even though they've signed no one (that I know of). With such a huge squad they didn't really need to - a second season for a lot of their players I think will see them be stronger than the mercenary type outfit they appeared to be last season. United signing RvP is huge for them - having said that, they've already got Rooney, (a very promising looking) Welbeck, Hernandez and Berbatov (if he stays). Kagawa looks like he has potential too. Still haven't really found an experienced, quality replacement for Scholes and I feel they may struggle to be as close to City as they were last season. Being an Arsenal fan I would've been happier had RvP stayed with the Gunners but he's never far away from a long term injury so 20-24million for 29 year old isn't totally bad. The fans booing him in the friendly probably tipped it for the Arsenal management and they probably decided it not a great idea to make him play out the season understandably. Despite him going though I think Arsenal will do well with Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla (and combined the cost less than Andy Carroll ??? ). They still need cover at full back though. Looking forward to seeing how Spurs are going to perform (or not perform hopefully ? ). They've not signed a striker so having Defoe as your only experienced first team point man is going to see them struggle I think. I don't see Chelsea coming good this season again to break into the top 3. Hazard doesn't look fantastic in the little bit I've seen him and they've lost Drogba (arguably the best striker in the EPL over the last 5 years). Jury's still out on Di Matteo too. Liverpool. Well Suarez signed a new contract so we can be entertained by his diving/cheating/loathsome behaviour for a few seasons to come. Joe Allen follows the classy British signings of Carroll / Downing / Adam last season, he'd better be the real deal. I have a bad feeling Liverpool are going to sink into mid-lower table mediocrity (they'll still win the odd League Cup mind you). Hoping it's going to be another cracker! Prediction: 1 - City 2 - Arsenal 3 - United 4 - Chelsea 5 - Spurs 6 - Newcastle 7 - Liverpool

Hmmmm, goalles draw for Arsenal today. Manu yesterday another 3-2 scroeline. Can score but Defence not so good? lIVERPOOL , last week, yes they were down to 10. at EPL level, you;re gonna get hurt. hOPEFULLY it goes better against ManC.

My prediction ManC have the attack, and defence, though they condeded 2 goals last week
ManU same , defence isn't there
Chelsea Torres still not there,
Newcastle Thats one team that pretty much the same since last season , Alan Pardew did great. hOPEFULLY THEY CAN MAKE TOP 3.
Arsenal Now that RVP is gone, so are the goals
Liverpool My team, but hell, think there is a lot of problems in defence and attack. Will see what happens today. I think ManC will take it 3-1 or something
Tottenham Is it two losses now, 1rst against Newcastle, yesterday a draw against WBA.

45 minutes plus added on time ?

Great game, well played, looked dangerous throughout, should never have taken Lambert off as was pointed out by the commentators. 20 million, what a bargain though, stupid penalty aside.

Saints in serious trouble ....and woe is me my local side firmly at the bottom too ...although for amazulu i see a better prospect of avoiding relegation.

For saints i see a lot of misery ...some good starts an one or 2 games could of gone either way , but the loss to wigan and sick swan on the weekend do not bode well....... its gonna be a blood an guts season.

ICM, I think your season really starts now - what an awful run of fixtures to start your first season back in the top flight. Having said that I think the 6-1 scoreline might hurt you - plenty of positives to take from the games against City and United, but from what I saw the defending was pretty shambolic against Arsenal. I still reckon there is enough quality in the team to get results against the likes of Wigan, Reading, Villa, Liverpool ?

Villa Saturday , nothing but a win needed...the loss at hoem to wigan was a serious one ....u got to beat yr fekllow strugglers at home ....this is a must ....

a loss against villa is unimaginable....

Really rough set of fixtures for Southampton's reintroduction to the top flight - Villa won this weekend too so it's not going to be a picnic next weekend.

Pleased with the Arsenal start this season, hoping the chaps can stay fit and that Wilshere comes back and hasn't lost anything he has before the long injury.

Must admit I feared the worst for Soton when I saw they were down, showed great character from there to come back and win it. Good point for Arsenal yesterday, if only Gervinho had a shot (and a first touch).

Again points gone beggin i thought , last 4 minutes were murder on my ticker ,....sheesh

i guess philosophically 1 pooint better than none

Soton gifted Fulham their first goal and that gave Fulham momentum. In the end a good comeback for Southampton.

IceCreamMan

SAints in real troube ,in fact all 3 bottom teams now in the dwang and seriously so ..... even a win now for any of the bottom 3 still elaves them in the bottom 3 ....

giggsy

Saw that yesterday - what's it, a five point gap now?

From my side, well chuffed with two wins from two games against Chelsea and Arsenal and finding ourselves back in our rightful place at the top of the log. Four away games in a row now so should be an interesting period.

Another point - how crazy were those two cup games during the week? 21 goals! ???

IceCreamMan

well a good win and now back on the tail enders to make it more interesting ....a couple of interesting games coming up and hopefully the away win will boost confidence....

lets see what 1 jan holds ..... quite possibly saints will be out of trouble by then or NOT
