It's no crime. I don't think Dyan's made a good album for 30 years at least (certainly not by the standards of the stuff he did early on). The Stones and McCartney are in the same category. That doesn't negate the great music they did make.
I hear you, but my problem with the Stones is that, even the great music they churned out doesn't seem to stick on me. I'm not disputing that they were a great band, it's obvious that their music was very good and they had a tremendous presence, but it just seemed to get lost on me.
X-rated Bob wroteI really don't get the continual dissing of Bono. You'd think he'd single handedly bought the world to financial ruin or something. There's far more despicable creatures than him walking the halls of rock 'n roll.
Yes, I am actually rather a fan of Bono. I must be naive or something but I actually do believe that he is a philanthropist with a real heart for people in suffering. He didn't have to pour millions into Africa but he did and he's constantly busy punting a new debt relief or charitable cause for Africa. Maybe he does so with a bit too much bravado for some but I actually really admire the difference he makes in the world. I wish I could be that influential in making people's lives better.

Oh... there's no reason to feel like you're missing something just because you don't get some act that sold 50 bazillion records. Consider these big selling names....
The Spice Girls
Celine Dion
Justin Bieber
West Life
Def Leppard
Beyonce
How many of those don't you get and how guilty do you feel?
LOL, I feel more guilty about the fact that I
do like some of those. I'm not crazy about her music but I think Celine Dion has one of the best female voices (if not the best) of my generation. I reckon that every generation sees one artist step to the plate who's voice just eclipses the rest - whether or not she has good music. Barbara Streisand was the voice phenomenon of the previous generation and I think Celine Dion is the current one. But it's about time for a new one now.
Def Leppard. Uhm, I'll have to confess that I really did like their music when I was in varsity. Haven't listened to much of it for the past 10 years or so so hopefully there's some redemption for me in that ?
But were getting way off topic now. Maybe we should start another thread to discuss the saintliness/strontliness of Bono as I'd be quite interested to hear why people dislike him so much.
