NOMD! The EZ18 meets an ancestor.

Yep. Got this little gem from Chabenda (many thanks!). It's a 1967/68ish Marshall model 1930 "popular". This one is the 2x10 version. It has two channels, normal and trem, each with volume and tone controls. Interestingly, it uses ECL86 power tubes, which is a pentode (like and EL84) and a triode (one half of a 12ax7) in the same bottle. So the two ECL86 tubes is both the power and phase inverter tubes in this amp. There's a singular 12ax7 that runs the tremolo and acts as the first gain stage (each half does one thing). It has a solid state rectifier and I'm told it will push about 13 watt but Marshall marketed it as a 10watt, probably not to encroach on the 1974x's turf. Pics! EZ18 and the 1930. I have not plugged it in yet. My friend in JHB did and it does not really work. Volume very low, tremolo doesn't work. Most of the parts are original but there's been some work done on the turretboard. I'll be fixing this one up to original specs as far as is reasonable. (and it obviously needs a good clean and a new logo) Will make a cute as heck blues amp I think ?

It has begun. All the hours of measuring and re-measuring... Enjoy
