I used to use it at a weekly jam session that we used to call "Catembe Club" (Catembe - a Red wine and coke mix). The local butcher used to hire a scout hall in Harare on a Tuesday night and anyone could pull in and jam. It was great. All sorts of great musos would pull in. Guys that never made it into bands but had amazing talent. Very inspirational. We would go outside into the blue gums and inhale some seriaasly "fresh" air maaan....... I found that the amp didn't have enough treble for a good rhythm sound, unless used with a Telecaster, so played it in conjunction with my Princeton. Once you cranked it up and stepped on the old TS it was awesome! It's going to be interesting hearing it once it has had some TLC!
Yeah, I think when the filter capacitors gets old they let the voltage to the valves drop too much which will result in a darker and less tight sound. Muddy, if you will. My first job is to replace the caps (and keep the originals to have a record) and clean the chassis and repair or replace the damaged wires. I'm hoping that is the main issue. The tremolo is something I'd want to fix too, but I'll get to that once the normal channel works. I haven't looked at it in detail yet, there's a lot of grime on some of the ground connection tabs so I'll clean those up, bad ground connections can result in various humming and ground loop and other random nasty issues.
Obviously I'll make some recordings, maybe even try my hand at a video, once its done, but its probably going to take a while.
