I have a Marshall JTM30 1x12 combo lying around that needs some repair. I bought it cheap from a music shop as the sound kept fading and you had to kick it with safety boots or drop it from about 20cms to get it to work again, Wriggling the pots usually had an effect. I pulled it to pieces about 15 years ago and re-soldered every joint on every circuit board and had no success at all (this was before the internet was of as much assistance as it is today). Any way about two years ago I took the amp section out of the box, plugged it in and fired it up, with a small screwdriver I judiciously poked and prodded about on the top circuit board until some smoke came out.

Is it possible to order new boards in SA for this rather sorry excuse of a Marshall amp? I was never too happy with the sound, it was always a little too thin and the reverb was never 'deep' enough for me, but it is lying around and I would like to get it going and give it to a mate of mine.

Unfortunately I don't think we the general public can get those boards. Maybe a Marshall service agent would be able to help you. Not really sure who that would be though.

Thanks Nicholas L! Lapdawg has kindly offered to help me if he can. I need to get off my backside and pick the offending part up. No chance of a Marshall agent where I am!! ?
