Whilst I'm happy with my amp, I'd love to get a lil 15W (or less) amp head just for a different tone every other day.

How would I go about using my 2X12 combo as a cab? Would I be able to connect both amps to the speakers and A/B my guitar between the two amps if I wanted? I'd imagine all I need is a 1/4" socket, and some speaker wire.
I just need to know if it's safe, and if so, how to go about it.

Buy the way, the amp has Celestion G12s in it, the ones with silver backs.

Here's a pic of my amp out of an 80s catalog, see how nicely a mini amp head would fit on the top to one side =)
IMO, you could use a speaker cable and hook up your amp head to the cab.
Just make sure you have the right impedance selected, otherwise you risk burning up the output transformer.

Just my 2c. There's more knowledgeable people here, who i'm sure will chip in.

You misunderstand, this is a combo amp, not a cab.
There is a extension socket in the back, but that's to plug in a second cab to the combo, but I'm wanting to connect an external amp to my combo's speakers, so i'd have to add a second socket wired to my combo's speakers.

That is one confusing sentence, hope you can make sense of it =D

I can sort the impedance out with no worries, my concern is connecting the second amp to the combo's speakers while keeping a load on the combo's amp itself as to not blow the transformer.
Yeah you can do it, but you have to have a dummy load on whichever amp is not connected to the speakers at any given time (as well as swapping the guitar from one amp input to the other at the same time. Radial have a "Head Switcher" that does just that...
if your speakers are hooked up to a regular jack, you could just plug it into the relevant "ohm" output jack from the head.

This is assuming your speakers are wired like that. My Laney is for example, and that is what I do.

Nope. Read the posts before replying. ?
              :-[

hmmm. somehow missed the entire A/B and 2 amps thing altogether.

              Sorry :-\
