The weirdest guitar story?

What is the freakiest or weirdest thing that has ever happened to you and your guitar? Jack Russel pee should be considered 'Normal'. From the time I was about 21 to about 35 I had spent my weekends and nights playing in bands in night clubs and working on my studio tan. Eventually I rebelled and went hunting instead, selling a lot of my valuable pieces on the way. To cut a long story short, I ended up running a fishing operation in Mozambique. My "Weird One" occurred when i was living at Cahora Bassa a few years back. I lived, with my wife and two kids, on the banks of the lake in a shack that had gauze for windows and grass mats for a ceiling. Power was supplied between 8am and 21.30pm by a generator. Summer temperatures reached 38C at 3 o'clock - in the morning! As you can imagine, on the marital side, things could be described in a reserved soutpiel manner as 'strained'. We would have infestations, as in plagues, of centipedes and scorpions. Hyaenas used to serenade us at midnight (I loved it :-[) My wife shot a 2m+ Black Mamba in one of the rooms with a pipsqueak Gecado 23 - what a woman! At Cahora Bassa my guitars were shoved under the double bed and forgotten about. Once in a blue moon I would pull them out and clean them. (Please do not forget the 'marital' situation. Quite often I would have to leave the camp for days - it was 200km to make a phone call). On one occasion I pulled my guitar cases from under the bed and opened up my Telecaster case - stretched out over the fretboard was a condom! (all the way back to the fine print no less) I glared at my wife - and she glared back at me, each of us accusing the other! It took me a looooong while took figure out that the old Fender case had a break in the end and that a rat had decided to make its home inside. The previous owner of the Tele had hidden a Durex (didn't get those in zim since the very early eighties) into the lining of the case. The rat had nibbled the packet open and, somehow, perhaps looking for the cat, had unravelled it over the neck of the guitar. An odd case for sure. What's yours?

Snap! I'm with you all the way on this one Nitebob! When they bite it's to the bone! Blasted Maribou storks or Hannibal Lecter in disguise. They're great when they're in their cages though!

African Greys are great! They have to be hand reared, though... In my experience they also tend to bond with a specific person in a family and often prefer one sex (in humans) to the other... Incredibly intelligent and entertaining. My mom had one. He'd lift he's one foot and talk in a certain voice, then lift the other and reply in another to keep a full conversation going, lol! My mom used to sometimes call the house help downstairs (from upstairs) and the Grey would reply in her exact voice with my mom assuming that the message was delivered... He also called each of our dogs by name and even told them to keep quiet to which they would respond - after which he'd start barking to irritate them... Clever animals. True about the sharp beaks, though. If you show fear, they know they can dominate...

This is my next door neighbour Madelena (chained to a tree opposite my local pub, The Keg and Cockroach). She has no tolerance for kids and women but has a soft spot for me and onions.

(in case this seems to be a little off topic, she is carrying out some physio on my fretting hand) ?
