The weirdest guitar story?

What is the freakiest or weirdest thing that has ever happened to you and your guitar? Jack Russel pee should be considered 'Normal'. From the time I was about 21 to about 35 I had spent my weekends and nights playing in bands in night clubs and working on my studio tan. Eventually I rebelled and went hunting instead, selling a lot of my valuable pieces on the way. To cut a long story short, I ended up running a fishing operation in Mozambique. My "Weird One" occurred when i was living at Cahora Bassa a few years back. I lived, with my wife and two kids, on the banks of the lake in a shack that had gauze for windows and grass mats for a ceiling. Power was supplied between 8am and 21.30pm by a generator. Summer temperatures reached 38C at 3 o'clock - in the morning! As you can imagine, on the marital side, things could be described in a reserved soutpiel manner as 'strained'. We would have infestations, as in plagues, of centipedes and scorpions. Hyaenas used to serenade us at midnight (I loved it :-[) My wife shot a 2m+ Black Mamba in one of the rooms with a pipsqueak Gecado 23 - what a woman! At Cahora Bassa my guitars were shoved under the double bed and forgotten about. Once in a blue moon I would pull them out and clean them. (Please do not forget the 'marital' situation. Quite often I would have to leave the camp for days - it was 200km to make a phone call). On one occasion I pulled my guitar cases from under the bed and opened up my Telecaster case - stretched out over the fretboard was a condom! (all the way back to the fine print no less) I glared at my wife - and she glared back at me, each of us accusing the other! It took me a looooong while took figure out that the old Fender case had a break in the end and that a rat had decided to make its home inside. The previous owner of the Tele had hidden a Durex (didn't get those in zim since the very early eighties) into the lining of the case. The rat had nibbled the packet open and, somehow, perhaps looking for the cat, had unravelled it over the neck of the guitar. An odd case for sure. What's yours?

not wierd at all but my Corgi loves music and will even come to gigs with me and be very well behaved , as long as she has centre stage of course ......and never has a guitar or amp been peed on or chewed yet,

This is my dog called Cat - in Portuguese a dog is a Cao (pronounced cow), a cow is a Boi (pronounced Boy) and I'm now so damned confused that she is called Cat. I believe that she is a Joao Russel (Moz version of a Jack Russel). Once in a while I give her one of my wayward daughters birth control pills to prevent the creation of any more Joao Russells (She has had a few!). The pills bring out the Rambo in her and she 'hand' stands up against car wheels and urinates on them. She hasn't peed on a guitar - yet. I love her to bits!

To take things off of dogs for a moment, I have an African Grey and he is absolutely amazing when it comes to the guitar thing. Every now and then I sit in the room with him and jam some acoustic and he loves getting to whistle and sing melodies over whatever I'm playing, and what's better is that he's always in tune and creates some very interesting and unconventional lines. I actually try to sit and work out some of his phrases sometimes just because of the incredibly peculiar nature of them, they tend to be very wide intervals with long held notes but with very almost random sounding times for when he changes pitch or sings a new note, he's still in time but he seems to have a thing for choosing the beat you wouldn't expect ?

When I put on instrumental guitar music like Guthrie Govan etc he loves singing along with the guitar lines and he also likes doing little dances where he lifts his feet in time to certain things in the music, and if I put on the heavier stuff he occasionally likes to bob his head up and down to it, but I think I taught him that cause I tend to bob my head when I'm playing ?

I absolutely love that bird, he's just got an amazing amount of character ?

Perhaps one of the monthly competitions could comprise of a duet between guitar and pet. My dog really gets to howling.

Really enjoying all the pet stories (and pics) - kinda OT from the original post, but now I understand why Chabenda started off the thread with the reference to Jack Russel pee stories - too funny!!!

Tell you what, I'd adopt one of those Joao russels just for the amusement ?

No freakin way!!! ? I've had dogs that owners are scared of fall asleep in my lap. I've also seen an african grey run on the floor across a whole living room to come and bite me...I wanted to cook that thing on more than one occasion...

Snap! I'm with you all the way on this one Nitebob! When they bite it's to the bone! Blasted Maribou storks or Hannibal Lecter in disguise. They're great when they're in their cages though!
