  • We're going to Durbs in August!!!!

YEAH!

The band is going to Durbs for a few gigs in early August. We played this event last year and it was very well organized, the sound-systems and engineers were top-class.
The main jam is happening on the Saturday night when about 20 guitarists will take to the stage and have a jam along with a host of drummers, perc-dudes, keyboard dudes and whoever else who was invited. I've never seen a stage with so many guitars and mic-ed up amps on it as did at last year's show, it's a sight to behold.

Don't be fooled by the "Unrehearsed" part, there are some seriously good musicians and guitar players on the bill.
Mike de Jager plays with Dennis Straton(from Iron Maiden), Sez Adamson is the finest Pedal Steel player in the Southern Hemisphere and Terence Reis tours with The Straits (formerly...uh-uhm...Dire Straits)

Hope to meet and greet some GFSA-ers from Durban when I'm down there. Come introduce yourselves.

Here's the Press Release..

Was great to meet you Arno! I really enjoyed the show.
Went along on Saturday around 4pm or so, not a huge crowd for the band, but awesome to hear and watch.

It will only be Cindy and Stewie at Spongweni. The rest of the band is going to Hoedspruit for another gig. Go say hoezit to them anyway. Have a good one.

Hey Snap. Was there anything happening at 4pm? Maybe some soundchecks? I only got there 30 mins before our set which was at 730 (was catching some zzz's back at the hotel cos of the rough nite we had on Friday) and the crowd was about 1000 strong by then. Were you still there by that time? Were you at the main stage in that huge tent or were you at the other stage in the expo area where Larry Amos and Jason Hartman played?

Sorry for the late reply mate. It was the main stage (I presume because they were also showing the band on a big screen) outside by the truck stands. I managed to watch a few songs, a couple of young guys on drums (long hair) and guitar. Then a cool looking bearded bloke on guitar too. Sorry dont know names or anything.
Very talented guitarists though, awesome to watch.

Nah, that was the small stage. The band you saw was Larry Amos (bearded dude). He's a very good blues player. Shot for going, pity we didnt meet.
