There's Emily (black Strat, Floyd fans will pick up the link)
Should be a black Tele then. ?
It's a fairly plain-topped Classic made in '00 or '01 (I forget exactly when offhand), and seems to have more / stronger red in the burst than usual.
Nice! I've seen a few like that. Not quite a "clownburst" because the bright red does fade into the yellow, but not that far off either.
Technically very true, though my last Tele was a vintage sunburst finish (& my current Tele GAS is for a plain Jane natural or butterscotch with black scratch plate & maple neck. Or a trans red with rosewood). ?
That's what makes her odd. In some light and with some photography its very, very close to being a Pennywise burst. Seen under natural light or with strong red / blue stage filters it's a much softer blend from the red to the yellow, plus you can see the grain through the whole finish. There's even a subtle flame to it. Ha! A new designation to make the LP Forum purists spit their morning coffee: Schizoburst. ?
The odd-looking spots near the scratchplate are homemade repairs by the original owner. Someone lobbed a glass beer mug at him in a pub, which either says something about his playing or the kind of place it was. I might redo it with a closer shade to the guitar's colour, rather than what looks like Humbrol gloss scarlet. I've never felt the need to have it fully repaired: it's a cherished but working instrument with honest battle scars.
This is the one I'm ultimately intending to treat to an RS Guitarworks kit, Tusq or Graphtec nut and a set of Bare Knuckle Mules. Perhaps some Tonepros kit in the bridge department too. She's a keeper.
