Saturday morning I managed to get a *splinter* through the palm of my hand, I thought looking at the wood that came out of my hand before it broke off that it was maybe 1cm at best, but was nervous when I couldn't feel a lot of my hand a few minutes later, then I blacked out..........lol. Turned out to be 8.5cm long and all of it embedded about 2cm deep in the palm of my hand lodging itself in the base of my finger that is next to my thumb.
Was just rough sanding a corner of a new work bench (that I've done a million times before by hand) when I pulled my hand back and presto..........bye bye wood splinter and hello a visit to the emergency ward. After prodding around for 30 minutes and giving me a few jabs it was decided to wheel me in for surgery and to cut my hand open as in general, they want wood out of your body in under 6 hours.
They opened it today to check and the surgeon is happy and there seems to be no nerve damage, so I got off lucky it seems. Gonna make for one hell of a cool scar though.
Major downside is that I'm gonna be off the guitar for a bit, palm muting for at least 3 weeks, but I should be able to use my fingers by the weekend if the physio is happy tomorrow.
I do have a shot of the frankenhand that I just took, but didn't want to gross people out.
Be SAFE!!!!
