Good day

As the title says, I am trying to get an idea of which brands have 5 string, passive basses in their respective ranges. The reason why I'm looking for passive is cause I love the sound of a passive bass. I have a 4 string passive and it's beautiful, but I'm looking into at some point acquiring a 5 string bass. So if anyone can tell me which brands have 5 string passive basses. thanx.
I'm also a passive fan. I've always liked the Fender American Standard Jazz Bass V. For a four I like the P-Bass, but for my tastes, the snappy-sounding Jazz pickups seem to work better for a 5-string. For an active, the Musicman Stingray V, BTW - the only active basses I really love.
I am using a Warwick Rockbass Fortress and it has an active passive switch, so you can enjoy both worlds. I tried the active for a while, but since I switched to passive, there was no going back. I think most companies will have active and passive basses... I think...
Most of the top end brands have a variety of passive and active basses.. You. Should consider something with a active passive switch because you might land in a situation where a actie couldcome handy..

What 4-string bass do you have? That might give us a idea of what tone you are after if you want a similar sounding bass just with the low-B?

I would reccomend a G&L L2500 tribute to anyone looking for a new bass, its like the swiss army knife of basses
I have an old Ibanez CT series bass. Will post a pic when I get home.

And well not so much in the high end basses. Looking more for something less than R10 000 if possible.

Well your ibanez has pj pups and you most likely wont get a 5 string with a p pup for les than R10k, a mexican Fender Jazz V or a Warwick Rockbass with JJ pups will be your best options.. Both are very solid basses!!!
