Phoned up the shop today, the cab is in. I get there, take delivery of it, get it home... And it's the wrong cab.
My one question would be was it the shop or the distributor who ordered the wrong thing?
The suppliers for this shop are shocking!
You can't blame the shop for that - doesn't matter which shop you order from they have to get it via the same local distributors. Turnkey/Tuerk used to be the Peavey guys and their service was always excellent, but when they dropped the agency, I'm not sure who picked it up.
When I originally ordered the cab, the suppliers said it would take 3, maybe 4 weeks to get it to me.
I'dve wondered right then. Most usually quote six to eight weeks for a special order unless you're willing to pay courier fees.
In the 3 months that the suppliers were cocking around, the Rand/Dollar went to hell, so the suppliers put the retail value up. Although I had paid the deposit 2 and a half months earlier, they refused to give me the cabinet at the original price.
That always been the risk you take with any special order (distributors will usually give the store a price and say "depending on the Rand"). Good question as to whether it is still a legal practice with the new consumer protection act though.
Once it had finally arrived, it's the wrong product altogether.
Perhaps that could also account for some of the price difference? Is the cab they gave you more or less expensive than the cab you wanted? Still... I think this, combined with the fact that it took three times the time promised, is reason enough for you to cancel your order and get your money back. Find a Laney cab loaded with the same drivers - it'll probably cost you less.
I also think that you not checking that the cab was the right one in the store cannot be held against you. You asked for a Peavey cab, you were given a Peavey cab, no-one can fault you for not immediately realising that you had not got exactly what you ordered until you opened the box.
