Allow me to put this here...
I specifically tried to keep the rules simple. Some seem to prefer a bit more structure, but I find leaving a bit of open-endedness and room for interpretation (as with the forum rules) is far more practical. The moment you start specifying some of the smaller details, you have to specify
every tiny detail and eventuality. Then you have to continually add detail for every new situation that arises. And having to wade through a ton of dos and don'ts will only deter people from entering.
AFAIC, the rules have worked well up until now and nothing has really changed...
With one of those Roland Synths and a GT8/10, you could have an orchestral arrangement (or even a different instrument per string) plus stereo guitars with 2 different COSM amp models on one performance.
Yup (although the newer Rolands have been dumbing down in many respects - the GR-55 can't play a different instrument per string). However, you still have to be able to play with any string splits in mind to separate instruments and you have to play two or three instrument parts simultaneously so they work together. You have to choose chord voicings carefully. You also can't do things like strum away merrily on a piano or harpsichord sound or play a staccato bass line with a bowed contrabass.
