Pedals from CraigAmps

I see bottledtone is developing a range of pedals ? Dextortion VintageG (Smooth overdrive) VintageR (Open crunchier version of VintageG) Toenail clipper (Sharper, brighter type of Overdrive/Distortion) SickFuzz (Bass fuzz) ShoeSoul (Transparent boost) ShoeSoul guts

sounds great aja!
in terms of colours / designs, start with what the original looks like, and start branching from there!
i cant wait to see what you guys come up with ?

aja wrote he will build a dual type pedal that is essentially two Dallas Rangemaster treble booster circuits, one with more gain/grit than the other, using germanium transistors that he has.

The two boosts will run independently or cascaded in either order, just like that duel at dawn pedal he did.

It doesn't end there though, like the 65amps colour boost or the keely java boost, the Craigamps pedal will have different voicings for each circuit and clipping options so that it can really be used as a tone shaping pedal.

Sounds like a brilliant pedal!

Been messing around with Rangemasters these past few weeks.
In my opinion an input capacitor switch greatly expands its usefulness.
Ie a switch that changes it from 10nf (a treble booster) to 22/47nF (mid range/full range boost).
Or perhaps even set up one side as a treble boost and one as a mid/full range boost.

Is that what the java boost does - the capacitor switching?

mtmattan

Yep exactly.
It uses a 10nF and a 47nF.
I'd recommend a 10/22 combination - the Rangemaster seems to get "muddy" quite quickly if too much bass gets through.

Cool, thank you very much for the advice! 8)

I really like that you've engaged Craig with
something new for him to work on and develop.

I thought your 'Aja' name was pronounced like the Steely Dan
'Aja' (Asia) album name and your pedal might be like
the album cover.

(Type 'Steely Dan Aja' into Google images for album cover
I refer to)

Aja that's a very cool idea for a pedal. Congrats on the win :goodtimes:

Thanks, never heard of that before. I have no idea what that pic is on the album cover though, way too abstract for my brain! ?

Thanks man! ?

By the way, the SLO-100 is freakin awesome right? Very underrated amp...

Nicholas-L

Aja the SLO is one insaine crazy beast ? I love it.... Still need to debug a few things. but other than that it's awesome!

I had to smother a rather smug chortle when a 'mightyHigh' guitarist
friend of mine asked to borrow my Craig pedals for a session.

He has a mile high rack of gear.....

:-\ , lets see ....... These have all come and gone ?

Boss OD1 , Boss Blues Driver , Blackstar Dual , TS-9 , Matta-modded TS-9 , MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe , Tim , Timmy , Catalinbread DLS , Okko Diablo +, MI Audio Tubezone , MI Audio Crunchbox ,...(E&OE)
The 3 that are my keepers are Barber 1/2 Gainer , Xotic BB MB and this Duel at Dawn.
I'm done ..... seriously :?

PS: to the best of my knowledge, Mika and I are not related at all ?

hahahaha Joel I dont believe you ?

Norman86

I'l be looking forward to that story ?

eric-vaxxine

I learned something at my last gig.
I stomped on my Craig Vintage Green and it kicked in
but the LED didn't light up.

I eventually clicked that the pedal was telling me that
my battery was low on power.
It is really useful that it does that, unlike other pedals
that just die.

Sean

One mouldy peach ?

Where did this 'Peach' come from and
how many pedal ideas does Benjamin have up his sleeve?

Maybe 'Guava Roll', 'Pecan Nuts' and 'Monkey Apple' pedals
are currently being researched in his R+D Dept...!

As a Lowvelder, it is only a matter of time before
Benjamin manufactures a 'Humidity' pedal.

So after a very lengthy discussion with Benjamin, he agreed on the following:

I am really into the vintage stuff, clean boosts, light overdrive etc., so he will build a dual type pedal that is essentially two Dallas Rangemaster treble booster circuits, one with more gain/grit than the other, using germanium transistors that he has.

I can't wait to see what he comes up with! I definitely challenged him to go a bit mad and do something quite different, but I know that he can handle this easily.

Any updates on the pedal Aja?

Thanks for asking!

It should be arriving soon! I can't wait ?

I will give more details when I get it. Benj changed it up a bit because of noise and so on....

Big-G

So, although this is not my pedal, and as far as I know, its not one for any of our GFSA's, I had to share this pedal! Being a bassist, I felt the need to represent my breed, and the need for nice pedals!

This is Benji's latest Bass Fuzz - The FremenFuzz

Cheers
G!
