Double bass, what and where?

From time to time you see them on the Gum, but the last few months there was nothing..
What shops can one buy a good seconhand Double bass from, and what would be considerd a good entry bass?

Theres a double bass selling at a pawn shop in noirthcliff asking price is 12k if i recall , i seen it and played a bit on it , but not sure of its pedigree, if you interested pm for pawn shop details

All DB's on Gumtree are cheapish Chinese basses....and everyone in the DB world says "stay away". If you are really interested I may be able to get you a '40's/50's instrument, ideal for Jazz or rockabilly, etc.
