Popped into KL the other day, saw that he has some new pedals there for under R300. I can't remember the makes, but although it wasn't Boss, it was a well known brand...
Norman86
where is king louis???
Norman86
and what kind of pedals??

King louis is my closest store to home , he often has great 2nd hand gear and if you negotiate cash talks in his shop , he currently has a gibson j 45 2nd hand a fab goldtop epi les paul a usa special tele and a fretless semi acoustic fender p bass special and some cool amps that grabbed my attention , never saw the pedals but that gibson j 45 distracted me, i pop in about once a week to check out his 2nd hand stock which changes constantly , i've bought a usa tele from him a vintage tube amp and a lot more , small store so not the shop where you go to see a ware house of gear but those 2nd hand deals are worth a regular visit

+1 on what Kierra said. He is in Pretoria.
Like I said, not sure what makes of pedals, but I saw overdrive, chorus, distortion, and an octaver there.

Yup.. I bought my mid 80s charvel from him. Man of his word too, so he hets my vote. Love his store. At 1 stage he had 2 roland amps jc120. Very nice

That's right...Years back I bought a 2nd hand mixer and a couple of AKG mics (now the property of my ex wife) Louis even came to my house to demonstrate how to use the mixer and hook it up properly...very nice dude. If I'mm shopping, he is usually my first stop or phone call, even if I don't necesarily buy from him...

lol I stay close to King Louis, always got the impression that they didnt know that they were talking about. Maybe that's a little harsh tho, I'll go check them out again.

Went again today. Behringer pedals. Suppose it isn't the best, but prices seem good.
@Mannoroth. Suppose thats the difference, I get my advice from you guys, then buy from Louis. That way he doesn't need to know anything ?

I know quite a few pros who use berringer because nothing else offers it.

Yes i agree king louis store is not the store to go to for cutting edge tech advice , but louis himself is a gigging bassist in a really hot trio obviously doing afrikaans music , so he may not know what wood or pups are used in a 59 les paul but whats better you may just find a 59 les paul in his store 2nd hand , i mentioned it earlier but he has a few jems passing thru that small shop on a regular basis , i make a point of stopping in once a week to check his 2 nd hand stock, in last months he's had some usa fenders and a few gibsons namely a j45 acoustic , les paul from 80's a gibson lucille a fender twin reverb amp, fender deluxe reverb, some mij fenders and hr can get anything you want new on order at low prices ,
and yes if you build up a relationship with him you get better prices
however that said i also support marshall music in woodmead and oosthavens and i buy from who ever offers me the best deal , so no blind loyalty
but louis is the closest and that 2nd hand stock is the appeal for me ,
anyway it must be one of the last mom and pop stores cos louis and his son run it and his wife is often there , doing admin so last of an era
and on top of that louis is just a very nice person,
kapepper
yup, I also like the shop
sometimes there is really nothing other times you are surprised (which is the fun of going to King Louis)
he and is son are just nice people
i once saw an old seventies guitar strap (ace like guitar starap) asked how much is it...
his answer: take it for free if you like it ?

I bought my first guitar from King Loius, when the shop was still in Pta west. Popped into the shop after they moved to the Moot, and wasn't impressed at all... Perhaps I'll have a look in next time I go to visit the folks...
