Im making a super basic board for now until I make a more serious, road-worthy one.

This has cost me R140 so far.

Gonna use some old varnish on it, buy some longer screws and get some velcro tomorrow.

Here’s a thought ???. If you have not too many pedals for the board, why not mount them in a brief case. Okay, :-\ it needs to be mounted in such a way that you can easily get to the foot switches, but it can work.

When I get around to-do that, I will build myself a custom box to do that. I think the electric player have enough stuff to lug around without adding more.

I have some left-over varnish in my garage, thought of doing that around the whole thing and then perhaps spray-painting the bottom black.

I still have 2 pedals on order and another still that I'm waiting to be built so it can ship. I will be building a proper board in the upcoming months which will have a case and all its wiring/jack inputs and outputs wired nicely and concealed in the board. Finding a briefcase to suit my requirements might have cost me in time and money, but I may yet find the perfect case to pop this board in-side. I fancy a black leather or tweed one with brass clasps!

mount the pedals on the inside of the lid and remove the little hinge arms that prevent the briefcase from opening fully. then, use the pedal board by opening the briefcase fully and afterwards close the lid so that the pedals are stored upside down in the main part of the case, obviously still being attached to the lid. that also leaves room for cables etc and allows easy access to switches because the lid is flat and doesn't have high edges like the base part of the case.

I think it looks really good dude. And I actually like the orange cable ties...gives it character and has a nice contrast against the dark wood. Nice job.

Thanks! I'm hoping to finish it off today with the specific velcro I'm looking for. I might end up still going with black ties to keep it clean looking. I have tonnes of the orange ones left, so maybe they'll make a reappearance someday!

Still waiting on my Bluesky but pedals are velcro'd on now.

I bought an old Schaller volume pedal but the pot is a bit noisy, I think it needs some contact cleaner, if that doesn't work I think I have to replace the pot...

BlueSky arrived. Deciding weather to wait and save for the Flint to go in the last spot or to get a Boss Super-Octave for other meddling I have planned.

As suggested I got an old bag to fit the board for travel:

The cables, power supply, extension, volume pedal etc. all fit nicely in the top section and as you can see I'm using two of the inside buckles to keep my leads tidy.

But how does your DC brick power the strymons?? they need 250ma each?! and each output is only 100ma?!

It powers them just fine and they sound great. I'm a bit of an idiot and I haven't checked that out yet, but they're both running superbly, maybe there is toneloss that I'm not even aware of. The Bluesky came with an american plug power supply, I guess I'll test that at some point, but right now, I don't have any issues at all.

Well the DC brick gives 1000mA overall. And there's only 6 pedals, so maybe the collective current consumption is less than 1A? Presuming each output hasn't been current limited to 100mA that is, in which case ignore me ?.
If you add more pedals then you may encounter some problems.

Yeah, mainly the tremolo, but it'd also be nice to have a 2nd reverb on call for when I need it.

But tremolo isn't an effect I'd use on every song, it'd be for one or two here or there and perhaps for colouring a solo, so I might think of getting something else for the board that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
