On Friday the 13th of April, the Alter-Irving Band was booked to play a gig at an auditorium in Lynnwood, Pretoria. We didn't know what to expect but went about our business of setting up and sound-checking when we arrived at the venue, which was a nice 300-seater auditorium. I expected the gig to be some corporate thing since we got paid upfront a while ago already, but it turned out to be different. The lady who organized the event, booked the band and venue and sold tickets. This made the band a bit stressed cos we didn't know what sort of advertising was done and what if nobody pitched up...
So we passed time in the dressing room. When it was time, we walked out on stage and a loud applause erupted, there were about 200 people in the audience. From the word go they were totally with us and it was one of the most enjoyable gigs I've ever done. The Pretoria people made it worth it. It was fantastic. We will be back there in 3 months time and I can't wait. Pretoria rocks!
