Thought I'd post this up here, seen as it's a recording that I played guitar in ?
Our album is now up for free download and/or streaming:

Some brief recording notes that might make it interesting to some:
- This was recorded live with 2x microphones in our rehearsal room using a Zoom H4
- We spent ages playing with mike positioning to get the best mix between drums, cymbals, guitar and guitar tone, and bass. The idea was to capture what you would hear listening to the band live. Not so much the 'energy' that you hear most people push around a lot, but the SOUND. I've gotten a little tired of that over produced, often sample triggered drum sound with close miked and multi layered guitars, and wanted to kinda take things down a few notches. I've always been inspired by the sound of the Shadows records and kinda wanted to do a heavier version of that (Strage are instrumental as well).
- We tried condenser mikes but they ended up sounding bad, the sheer volume of the sound was breaking them up. So I went with SM57's believe it or not.
- The recording was then mastered with Izotope Ozone and EQ matched to another bands recording. Done.
On almost every recording you hear today, and definitely with single guitar bands, its the standard to double track your guitars to get them sounding 'huge'. This was one thing that worried me a lot and kinda bummed me out. I was worried things didn't sound 'big'. But I ended up being pretty happy with the result.
For a free recording I don't think it turned out half bad... your thoughts?

There are a few more pics lower down on this page. Some of them kinda show where everything was positioned.
For guitarists, you might be interested in what I was using:
- Ibanez 2020 Prestige with EMG85 in the bridge and 81 in neck (i find the 81 in bridge way too thin)
- Mesa Triaxis preamp
- Mesa 2:ninety power amp
- TC Electronics G-major v1
- Cab 1: Carvin Legacy (Celestion Vintage 30's)
- Cab 2: Carvin V3 (Celestion G12-T75's)
Any questions please feel free to ask.
