I don't know two things about valves/tubes and started looking around for some reviews, since I'm looking at importing a couple (as part of a larger shipment of stuff.)

This guy seems to know what he's talking about, if you're interested. It is on a store's website, but his reviews on the different brands seem objective, albeit short and only on some valves.

Lots of other background info in there as well.

And, by the by, this here guy has an interesting, detailed site about valve amps and how to mod them: billmaudio.com

Maybe these have been posted here before, but what the hell...

As far as my experience goes (only have half the 12ax7s he mentions and only a few of the 6v6s and el84s) I tend to agree with the verdicts. Makes me think he must be right about the stuff I don't know as well.
Did not know about the JJ 844, must go out and buy some. So anyway, tonight's top Gearhead tip: do not read these reviews, doing so is costly and does not make you play any better.

Oh wow.. JJ 844.... sounds amazing! I hate when gear and good writing go together. ?
I came across the same review a couple of months ago and as a result ordered myself some Tung Sol reissues and haven't been disappointed.
