Well time moves on and we're about to do the next load of changes to the car.
First step is the threshold when you get into the car, the original ones have a threaded alli trim that is placed on top of a rubber mat, I've made the trim by hand and am now just waiting for Hudson rubber to provide me with the rubber mat, then I can mock this up.
We're also about to fit the original Porsche tail lights as two things have been preventing us from doing it uptil now. Rubbers are pretty much 50 years old and are shot, so we did what any South African would do..........we made our own. To import 2 rubbers from the US would put me back almost R1000. We made our own set at a fraction of the cost and are also now selling them to the locals.
The second part is the lenses, also pretty much only good to make a mould from. We've tested the technique out on indicator lenses for the front and we can't fault them.
Also made a new set of horn grills for the front by laser cutting them and this also prompted my business partner to make a cast for it.
Not cheap, but the final product will pretty much be mint.
This weekend is time to change exhaust and intake gaskets as well as also do some body repairs out back, blown slave cylinder and some wiring upgrades for the ECU. The engine bay below is almost done, we just have to make an airbox so that I can get rid of the cone filter.
After this will be the final mods for the front of the car which will include relocating the radiator, changing the pipes and getting my space back in there. And then it's making a new fuel tank and then body work, body work and more body work.
