So I finally watched Crossroads the other night (not the Britney Spears one, the cool blues guitar one ?) and I've completely gone on a blues kick now.
One song in particular took my fancy, but I've searched the entire Interwebs and can't seem to find who wrote it. I know Ry Cooder played all the guitar bits but I can't seem to find the name of this song in particular. It's not even on the film's official soundtrack.
Any ideas? (It kicks in at 1:27).

If memory serves me well I think Arlen Roth was the technical advisor on that movie. Gooogle him with crosroads.

I was always under the impression that Steve Vai also contributed to the musical score.

They all did.

That track is heavily influenced by Paganini's 5th violin caprice.
Pretty similar. Not exact.

Yeah, it's taken largely from Paganini's 5th Caprice and is also a big part of the winning end piece (Eugene's Trick Bag - played by Vai).
Cooder did the blues bits; William Kanengiser did the classic; and Vai did the rock and Trick Bag. Arlen Roth taught Maccio how to mime convincingly.

I'm actually looking for the blues track played from 1:28, not the classical bit up front ?
It seems that that particular piece was definitely the work of Cooder and not Vai or Roth. Tracking it down though is proving to be impossible.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm going to continue searching. I'll post back if I strike gold.

AFAIK in the actual head cutting duel - Eugene's Trickbag, the blues parts popularly believed to be played by Ry Cooder were definitely played by Arlen Roth. He was a monster of note.
