Good day guys! ?
I was wondering where i could get a replacement speaker for my guitar amp and what you guys think would be best!
I have an old Peavey Envoy 110 35Watt RMS that has been in the garage for a good couple of years. It is not working at the moment ☹ and i am thinking that it is the speaker that has gone. How do i go about cheking if it is in fact the speaker ??? and if it is where would i be able to find a suitable replacement speaker in the jhb west rand area?
any help would be greatly appreciated! ?

I usually just connect a 9V battery across the speaker terminals quickly - if the cone kicks, the speaker is usually OK.
But a solid-state amp that's been standing a few years, it's more likely to be corrosion build up on a jack or in a pot than anything else. Give it a good once-over type service and see what happens.

Thanks Alan
Wil give that a try first and see what happens!

I tested the speaker last night and did not get any life from it :'( took the speaker out and it doesn't seem to be the original speaker, it has no branding on it at all.
Where can i find a replacement speaker in the jhb/pta area? and what speaker should i be looking at?

Errr, chat to JP le Roux,
He builds his own line and sources speakers. He got me 2 speakers a while back at very decent prices.
He can also get the new fancy neodymium speakers if you have dosh to splash
Alternatively, by online and have it shipped in.. Celestionn jensen, eminence are the obvious brands. Play around on the celestion site and see what speaker you like..
I'd punt a 12 inch for a bit more bottom end.. That's just preference though.. Maybe look at modding it with 2x10?
So many options..
